Based on a True Story
A gripping tale based on a true story. Dispelling the Myth is available for purchase here.
I love movies. Though, interestingly enough I deeply dislike fake people. Pretentious types are boring, to say the least. I also deeply detest the impostors and fraudsters that ruin the internet. I think this is because they make it a less safe, and more chaotic place that ruins quality life experiences.
But I love movies, TV shows and theatre and opera and performing arts. When an actor brings a character to life we get to experience a story in such a visceral way.
Backdrop: I have spent years watching countless movies, it is sort of a hobby. I used to go and preview movies prior to their release, and then provide my feedback on them. One day, in the spring of 2017, I was in Los Angeles at that time, I was sitting at a private residence in Beverly Hills. About to screen a movie with a bunch of other people who presumably love movies, too.
I am a person who always keeps my cards very close to the chest so you will never really know what I am thinking. And in times of great pressure, I actually perform my best. So, you can imagine my surprise when, as I sat watching a movie, I saw a piece of my own life unfolding before my eyes. The movie is called Untogether, not a half bad story, actually.
Lola Kirke, who was a lead in Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle plays me in the movie Untogether, which had a limited release and then went to video on demand in 2019.
Of course, I contacted the person, a public figure, responsible for contributing this narrative to the film. I wanted to ask him why he would do such a thing. He did not respond to my request.
A few years later, in 2021, I decided to write a novel. Dispelling the Myth is my side of the story. Please give it a read. It is such an incredible story about overcoming overwhelming odds. The novel is a fact-based fiction piece, or faction, as some like to label this genre.
